Hand thrown by Hannah Elliott
Hannah Elliott makes hand thrown tableware and vessels with woven handles. She throws them on the potters wheel in earthy red clay. Then dips and dashes the surface with liquid blue and white slip. They’re finished with a wash of super-glassy transparent glaze, which brings a touch of luxe to the raw terracotta.
Practical info
• Food safe earthenware, fired to 1100 degrees centigrade and made to enjoy every
day.
• Handwash recommended. Mugs, jugs and items without woven handles can go in A dishwasher with care.
• Every pot is thrown by hand on the wheel at Hannahs pottery in Sussex. The pots are
made from UK clays, fired in an electric kiln, powered by a green energy supplier.
• 10 cm tall, 8.5 cm diameter. Sizes are approximate and some crazing in the glaze is usual. Pieces are unglazed underneath and have slip and glaze drips, making marks, a pinhole here and there - this is all in keeping with the English slipware tradition, where the pot tells the story of how its made.
We use recycled packaging where possible, including bubble wrap and tissue paper. We want to reuse and recycle as much as possible and hope you understand and appreciate this.
