Holly Berry runs a thoughtful hand-weaving workshop from the bottom of her beautiful garden, producing small batches of meaningful textiles both in house and in collaboration with the Bristol Weaving Mill. A female-run micro mill in the heart of Bristol.

Crafting small batches of intuitive and contemporary woven textiles in the form of scarves, blankets and accessories for the home and body, these slowly made woven works make warm, comforting and long-lasting companions.

The word LOVE is woven and repeated throughout the design of the woven cloth, using Morse-code markings to create the distinct and colourful dot and dash pattern that is woven into the cloths double layered structure.

Sustainable design and high quality are at the heart of Holly’s studio practice; as well as using all natural and biodegradable materials, her use of slow small-scale, local production methods and limited edition batch weaving means less waste and more connection with what we make and consume. This is where Holly intuitively finds balance as a hand-weaver and designer-maker.

This super snuggly and luxuriously wide scarf is woven using a double cloth technique, giving two contrasting sides. The word LOVE is hidden in the design, woven using Morse-code markings to create the distinct and colourful pattern. You can choose whether to wrap this piece loosely around the shoulders or wind tightly about yourself to keep the cold out, both ways you get to wrap yourself in the most important thing in the world. LOVE.

This is one of a small batch of limited edition LOVE wraps, traditionally woven in limited numbers at a 200 year old weaving mill in the UK. All mill woven pieces start life as hand woven swatches on Holly’s workshop looms before being sent to the mill for careful small batch manufacture.

How to Wash:

All of Holly’s work is recommended dry clean only.
We recommend that you follow the dry clean only advice on any of her woven woollens unless you’re an experienced wool-washer.

The professional finish on mill woven pieces makes it tricky to achieve the same finish after washing at home, however her hand woven pieces can be carefully washed at home on a wool wash or gently by hand, using a specialist wool detergent (Holly uses Woolite when hand finishing after weaving). Use a low heat (about 30 degrees celcius) and not too much friction, as too much agitation can cause shrinkage and felting to occur. Small marks or stains should be treated gently and as quickly as possible to first soak up the stain. Remember rubbing can cause the fibres to felt together.

How to Dry:

If you have decided to wash your scarf or blanket, please remember to dry flat and away from too much heat, a gentle reshaping before drying is recommended. Drying or hanging over a clothes dryer (or similar) can cause the piece to become misshapen or to stretch. When dry a little steam from an iron or clothes steamer can refresh and plump the fibres, but remember ironing will flatten the piece and remove an element of its three dimensional texture.
